My work is grounded in the experience of making the photograph and the quiet confidence of a natural image. I do not use Photoshop to over-retouch appearance or alter a person’s defining features.

Jackson Jiang is an independent photographer based in Guangzhou, Guangdong. His life has moved between Guangzhou, Oregon, the Bay Area and San Diego — places that taught him to observe how people and environments shape one another.

While completing his degree at UC San Diego, Jackson built his photography practice independently online. His days were deliberately divided: around 80% learning photography and 20% studying for his degree. That self-directed education still anchors his work — curious, attentive and rooted in lived experience.
